Knitwear
Knitwear is every girls best friend, convenient as a cover up in summer and then everywhere you look during the winter, and anybody who knows how to wrap up in style is either rocking an oversized jumper dress, cable knit cardi, or on trend geek chic jumpers. With all this choice you may feel its impossible to know where to start, so thats where we come in to help save your fashion souls…
First up we have the oversized jumper dress, perfect for the days when you want to snuggle into something comfy and casual. It’s the epitome of laid back chic making an effortless fashion statement. One of the most common jumper dresses is the thick cable knit, a favorite for those lazy sundays and look great thrown on with thick tights and boots, not to mention your favorite fur jacket, so if this outfit doesn’t keep you warm in winter I’m not sure what will! Statement knitwear is also having a major moment with geeky novelty pictures emblazoned across your body these kooky knits look great teamed with your jeans and speak entirely for themselves. Another style popular for winter is the fluffy knit so be sure to watch out that with all the added puffyness it doesn’t make you look two sizes bigger!! These jumpers again look best worn simply with jeans or if you’re feeling daring try some wax look dark jeans.
Many of us have old jumpers in the backs of our closets from years ago which somehow worn alone just don’t quite cut it to be modeled outside of the house, but before you start reaching for the bin bag we have a quick and easy fashion tip to update any jumper. All you need is a shirt and a bow, or statement necklace (your choice depending on the occasion,) by layering this underneath allowing the collar of your shirt to sit on top of the jumper instantly transforms your look, ensure that the buttons of the shirt are done up to the top to really update your look. To complete your outfit try adding a long droopy bow tied around the collar, (this look works well for daytime) or on the other hand if you want to jazz it up a little for a casual evening dinner try adding a short statement necklace which sits just in between the space between your collar. Then voila your old jumper has instantly been transformed to an on trend runway look.
Next in line is the cardigan, a perfect way to finish off any outfit and popular as a cover up for summer evenings or an all rounder for winter and each year the shops bring variations of the cardigan out in their numbers. With the tribal theme very much having its moment the shops are sporting a plethora of blanket wrap cardigans with a navajo print which are perfect to wear in autumn sans jacket, and again will work well come early spring time. Another cardigan style which comes around each season with a little twist – detailed collars and shoulders! A fur collar cardi, with just a touch of fur around the neckline is certainly a piece to keep your eye out for during the winter! On the other hand if you’re wanting to update an old cardigan try buying a faux fur collar which you can attach on to any cardigan or jacket for that matter! These are most likely to be found in H&M, Topshop, or Urban Outfitters.
Each season the trusty black cardigan will get you through the days and this is complimented by a range of coloured knitwear to match the latest on trend colours. The colour du jour to look out for during winter for your knitwear is certainly mustard yellow, try buying a cute cardi or cropped jumper in this colour and you will be well ahead in the style stakes. Try teaming this colour with black or a chocolate brown to really compliment one another. Pastel shades, creams and white are all prevalent in summer.
There are even countless items of knitwear which cater just for the festive season, who can resist a traditional Christmas jumper? But if novelty knitwear isn’t your thing, try going for a metallic look there are plenty around at the moment and create a quirky futuristic style, which will look great around Christmas time!
So now you know HOW to wear knitwear this winter, the next question is WHICH style will you be rocking?
