If you loved Twilight you will love these…

With Eclipse due out on DVD soon and Halloween on the horizon I thought it was time to recommend some titles that will leave you wanting more the way the Twilight Saga did. These books have the fantasy element of Vampires, Lycanthropes or demons but also a classic love story that makes you hope that the characters get what they want and have that “happily ever after” moment we all dream of.

Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
The first of these books is Bitten by Kelley Armstrong which is based around the life of Elena Michaels the only female werewolf. She was turned by the man she loved and trusted and because left the pack in order to figure out her life which she feels does not include them. However one day they need her help and she has to decide whether to go back to the man that betrayed her or to stay with the one that currently makes her happy. The relationships in this book are turbulent to say the least but like most authors she makes things work out in the end even if the path there is a bumpy one. There are several books in this series and as we meet more of the people in Elena’s world the books are written about them and even though the original characters take a back seat they are always referenced at some point during the other novels.

Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn

Witchling Yasmine Galenorn
Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn is the first of a series which will leave you wanting to read more of her work not just the one set of books. It’s about three half human and half fae sisters (Camille, Delilah and Menolly) who are members of the OIA (Otherworld Intelligence Agency). They were sent to work here but with the help of a few close friends they need to stop the demon Shadow wing from staging a coup both here and in Otherworld. Each book is a new battle for the sisters and each book is written from the point of view of a different sister. While this may sound like some recent TV shows it couldn’t be more different but you still hope that everyone makes it to the end of each book.

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison which is the first in her set of books based on Rachel Morgan a white witch and a runner for Inderlander Security (I.S.). She wants to leave and set up her own agency but no one leaves the I.S. and she ends up with a price on her head and being besieged by fairy assassins and dodging curses every time she leaves the church she shares with a living vampire called Ivy. She figures the easiest way to stop being a “dead witch walking” is to prove that Trent Kalamack, a prominent council figure as a drug lord. If only it were that easy. This book is full of mishaps but doesn’t end with a nice happy ending. While it ends that story it sets up the story for the books that eventually follow and the rivalry that ensues between her and Trent Kalamack.
