Skincare Routine

A daily skincare regime tailored to your skin type is vital for beautiful healthy skin this should involve the three essential steps, these are cleansing, toning/exfoliating and moisturising. Your skincare routine will work best if the products you use cover all these three essential steps as they work together to remove dirt, excess oils, dead skin cells and rejuvenate skin. Follow this process morning and night daily for a healthy complexion do not skip any of the steps if you desire beautiful, healthy, acne free skin.

Before following this 3 step process it is important if you wear make up to use a make up remover to remove the make up from the skin, if you do not do this the cleanser will not be able to work to its full potential due to the layer of make up smothering the skin preventing a deep cleanse of the skin and pores.

Cleansing
Cleansing will “clean” the skin, washing away the dirt that blocks pores and can cause breakouts.
Using a cleanser specifically for your skin type (do not use soap, especially if you have dry skin as it will only result in further dryness of your skin), wet your face with warm water and apply in circular motions until it forms a later, rinse thoroughly.

Exfoliating
Most commonly done using a toning liquid and cotton wool balls, this process removes all the dead and dried skin cells as well as any dirt which may remain after cleansing. You will see the results of toning on the cotton wool, a thorough make up remover and cleanser will leave little dirt and excess make up traces behind, if you find this is not the case consider changing your cleanser and/or make up remover. Exfoliating can also be done using a gentle scrub wash, more suitable for those with sensitive skin which would react to the alcohol content of a toner. You may find it easier to get a flawless foundation application after regular exfoliating as dead skin cells are removed patchiness is reduced.

Moisturising
Moisturising is the most commonly avoided step, many believe that because their skin isn’t dry there is no need to moisturise, this is not the case, even oily skin needs moisturised. If you do not moisturise oily skin the skin will produce more oils as it feels starved of moisture this would therefore create more problems with blocked pores, greasy skin and breakouts. Moisturiser protects and replenishes the skin. Apply sparingly by placing small dots around your face then evenly massage into your skin.

If you don’t currently follow this three step routine it is not too late to try and you will definitely notice the difference in your skin condition, especially if you have problematic skin, take a before and after picture so you can see just how important the routine is. Investing in quality skincare products that are tailored towards your skin type will work wonders and the healthy smooth skin you are rewarded with will give you an extra confidence boost giving you a beautiful smooth canvas to apply your make up.
